Bred for Fun and Temperament

ABBEY DOG
Our love affair  with Border Collies started around the late 1980's.
We decided that we needed a dog, and as we both had Borders in our background through
parents and grandparents  etc. this seemed the natural choice.
We looked around various places for the perfect family member until we visited a small farm in Cranbourne, Victoria.
For some reason we wanted a male dog.
The breeder produced all the males and let them run around
but none were really interested in their new parents.
However one puppy still in its pen was going crazy,
it was a tri-colour female. The breeder let her out and we couldn't get rid of her.
She was ours, she picked us and had decided we were more fun than her litter mates.
It was mutual love at first sight.
We were going to call the new male AB as in "Alan Border" , but having chosen a girl instead it seemed only natural that our new puppy"s  name would be
"Abbey".
